Private Mushroom Spots & Field Notes

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I save a mushroom spot?
Tap Save spot, allow location access while using the app, then add an optional photo, label and field note before tapping Save private spot.
Can I edit or delete a saved spot?
Yes. Open a saved spot and use Edit to change its label, note or photo. You can delete one spot from its detail page or delete all ForagePin data from Privacy & Settings.
What happens if the map cannot load?
Open the Spots tab to view and filter every saved record. Apple Maps may require a network connection to load map tiles, but a map failure does not delete your local records.
Does ForagePin identify mushrooms or tell me what is edible?
No. ForagePin is a private location and field-note journal. It does not identify species and must not be used for edibility or safety decisions.
Where is my data stored?
Saved coordinates, labels, notes and copied photos stay in the app on this iPhone. ForagePin has no account, cloud spot database, public map or community sharing.
What analytics does ForagePin use?
Firebase Analytics receives non-content app events and may process an app-instance identifier and IP-derived approximate location. ForagePin does not send saved coordinates, photos, labels, notes or file paths to Firebase. Ads and Crashlytics collection are disabled in this release.
